Spring is just around the corner, and March is the perfect time to prep your landscape for the growing season in Central Texas! Whether you're planning a vegetable garden, adding trees, or refreshing your lawn, now’s the time to take action.
Here’s what we recommend this month:
✅ Compost & Soil Prep – Give your garden beds, landscape, and lawn a healthy start by adding compost. Apply a 2-inch layer to vegetable and annual beds, mixing it into the soil before planting. For perennials, shrubs, and trees, simply top-dress with an inch or two. A light layer over your lawn will also promote lush, green growth.
🌳 Plant Trees – March is your last best chance to plant trees before the Texas heat kicks in. While trees can be planted later, early spring planting makes establishment easier and reduces maintenance.
🌿 Fertilize for Strong Spring Growth – Use an organic granular fertilizer on garden beds, trees, and shrubs to give them a nutrient boost for the season ahead.
🚫 Weed Control – Stop weeds before they start! Apply corn gluten to lawns, pathways, and trouble spots to prevent weed seeds from sprouting. Be careful—it will prevent all seeds from growing, so don’t use it where you’ve planted new flowers or veggies.
